Deep Bunkers: Don’t Get Caught!

deep bunker

You know you’re in trouble when you land in a bunker that has a staircase! Like this one here, pictured above. With six foot vertical walls, you’d better pull your lob wedge for this one, or better yet, call a helicopter for an airlift.

Seriously, if you do ever end up in a really deep bunker, there are a couple of things you can do. As always, make sure you hit the sand in behind of the ball. Pick a grain of sand about an inch or two behind the ball and keep your eye on that. Opening up the club face will help to give the shot even more loft. Whatever you do, don’t quit on the shot!

And don’t forget to rake after your shot! You don’t want the bad karma of someone landing in your footprint.
